Lessons
Junior Program
Junior riders typically enjoy one hour per week private lessons. The rider learns to handle the horse on the ground; groom; saddle and bridle; and ride bareback, English and Western. Riders earn six ribbons and certificates as they are exposed to the various aspects of riding and caring for horses. Riders stay in the program for as long as they are enjoying themselves. Upon completion of the junior level ribbons and certificates, riders may have the option of continuing into the Senior Program.
Senior Program
Senior riders typically enjoy one hour per week private lessons, although some riders opt for the two hour schedule. The senior program has a greater emphasis on mastery of the animal. The rider learns all that is included in the junior rider program, in addition to twelve specific areas of horse care skills of interest to novice riders - safety, general and emergency horse care, barn care, show grooming, breeds and riding styles, basic physiology and psychology, horses in literature and art, and researching advanced horse riding opportunities. All teaching and learning is accomplished in a relaxed, hobby atmosphere with riders discovering and defining where their interests lead them. It is our goal that senior riders become competent, independent amateur riders, and ribbons and certificates are awarded for knowledge mastered.
